Hi, welcome to Teaching English Sucks, a site about teaching English in
Korea.
Updates 12/01/06 "Don't Cut Off My Privates!" Added To Money Section 11/23/06 "Spelling Games" Added To Games Section 11/17/06 "Bingo" Added To Games Section 11/14/06 "Ten Crack Commandments Of Teaching English" Added to Money Section How is this site different from others? ![]() Our Beloved Leader Welcomes You To This Site We have no interest in appearing professional or "nice". We're not married to Koreans, or trying to raise a family here. Most of us don't have cushy University jobs. We don't plan on staying here forever. In short, we don't really care who we (inadvertently) piss off. We're simply trying to provide straight-from-the-gut information, dish the real dirt, and generally share the things we wished we had known before we came to Korea, or during the first few months that we were here. We've seen a lot of great potential teachers flame out and jump ship because they didn't know what they were getting themselves into. They left Korea cursing the place, because basically they didn't know how to play the game. And it's just that, a game. If you know what you're doing, you can have a great experience teaching here. Or, like so many others, you can end up boarding a midnight flight out of Inchon airport, praying that your hagwon owner gets struck down by some terrifying new strain of gonorrhea. What can I find on this site? What do negotiate for in your contract. The basics of working at a hagwon. The plus and minuses of teaching privates. What's good about living in Korea. What's bad about living in Korea. Games and activities for your kids. Links to other sites.
Teachers like yourselves. Mainly young folk, 22-35. Anonymous, of course.
